About the Founder

Ken Tu grew up in an immigrant family from Southeast Asia and has been immersed in food and hospitality since childhood. Ken’s career started in his family’s restaurant business, where he learned every part of the operation from front-of-house to back-of-house to inventory to management. He expanded into the DC nightlife and craft coffee culture, diving deeper into the multifaceted service industry and building a stronger network with talented chefs, bartenders, and guests.

These fostered relationships and decades of managerial and operations experience led to a corporate catering position in 2012. In less than eight years, Ken advanced from Client Service Representative to the Director of Operations.

In 2023, Ken founded Terrawood Catering to continue the special connections he’s been privileged to make, with a community that has brought joy and fulfillment to his love for food and hospitality. The dining industry continues to evolve and reinvent itself, and Ken believes Terrawood’s clients will appreciate the collaboration and teamwork on which this company was founded.

Ken currently resides in Montgomery County balancing life, work, and dog care.
